So close!!

Well we are now OFFICIALLY #1 on the waiting list! The next matches will be out in June so God willing we will finally know who our sweet baby is. It has now been 2 years since we started the process and we have had several ups and downs. But through it  all God has revealed  his love to us through acts of kindness and encouraging words from family and friends. We have been busting at the seams with with amazing friends and family that God has graciously blessed us with. Please continue to pray for our family as we still have some waiting to do and that God prepares our hearts for our sweet little one in Thailand. Blessings to you all!

Moving up!

Adoption update : We have now been moved up to #7 on the waiting list! We should be matched around March or June of next year. We are so excited to be getting closer. God has blessed us so much financially but we still have a ways to go! When we are matched we need to $9500 (We have about half of this so far)for the Thai government then around 6 months later we will need around $5000 for travel expenses. There are many ways to help if you are willing!

#1 We are always in need of prayer! -For our expected child, patience and wisdom for all those involved in this process.
#2 Purchasing Uganda beads or Haitian earrings! These make great Christmas gifts!!Half of the proceeds will go toward our adoption!
#3 Providing financial support when it is time to travel, This can be a monetary donation or giving us your frequent flyer miles at no cost to you!

Please continue to pray for our family and for our sweet child overseas. God Bless!

Home Study

We had our first of two meetings with our Social worker yesterday. She did our individual interviews, mainly just getting to know us better. And then did one with us together asking about how we met and our marriage. It all went great! And she went ahead and did a walk through of the house as well and didn't find anything wrong, which I was a little nervous about. We have already set up our next meeting for next Thursday September1! I can't believe that after we finish that meeting we just have to wait for our report to be typed up and we are done with the Home Study! If feels so great to actually have something completed!!.

Our next step will be to send in an I-800A form and when it has cleared our Dossier, then we are put on a waiting list to be assigned to a child!

Beginning a Journey

From Tara:
My desire to adopt began many years ago. My Dad was in the military and we traveled a lot as kids. One of the places we got to live was Korea. While living there My Mother would take my sister and I to the orphanages to help just rock and hold the babies who were starving for attention or to just play with some of the older ones. Since then I have always had the desire to either help those trying to adopt or to do so myself. My husband and I now have 2 young children and now have the desire to grow our family. And after lots of prayers and discussion we felt led to start the journey of adoption. For my husband it wasn't so much the adoption he had to decide on it was whether or not he could handle a third kid!! ;) We are so excited to be taking this leap of faith and completing our family.

I am now making jewelry to sell to help raise the funds needed to adopt Internationally. We know this is the path God has set for us and know he will provide! Thank for taking the time to stop and read and we hope you continue to follow our journey with us.

From Jason:
In the past 28 years of my life I've thought of adoption exactly 0 times until 2010! I've always thought I would have a few of my own kids and that would be it. But God works things differently than I would have them often times, and for good. When Tara first mentioned adoption as something she had a desire to do I didn't let it really impact me. I figured it was something we could talk more seriously about in 5-10 years, when our kids were older. But Tara was persistent in praying about this herself as well as encouraging me to pray about it. When I seriously started praying for direction God quickly revealed my selfish reasons for not wanting to adopt. Through a wonderful group of friends in a couple of our small groups (some of which were and our adopting themselves) God began to give me a desire for orphans. One friend put it this way, "Christians ARE God's plan for orphans". I have a feeling this process will change our lives. It will no doubt change me, and that is exciting.
